Several months ago, the Disney Company, in conjunction with the Hands On Network announced that a free admission to the Disney Parks would be given to each registered volunteer who performed a volunteer service for an enrolled charitable organization.
The Stockbridge Valley Educational Foundation was enrolled with Hands On in the Disney program and posted the recent Dinner Theater as a "opportunity" for registered volunteers.
Well, the dinner was a great success and so was the program. We had 13 volunteers from other communities around the state show up and work with us on both sessions of the dinner and they were a tremendous help to the Foundation members, washing dishes, preparing beverages and just generally doing what ever was needed.
The day before the dinner we received notice that the program was no longer allowing registrations, that they had met their goal of signing up or awarding park tickets to one million volunteers.
This is a good example of a major corporation reaching out to benefit even small organizations and communities like our own.
It was a pleasure meeting the volunteers and we are grateful for their help.
