Both the JV and Varsity boys basketball teams had exciting wins against Brookfield tonight. The JV team showed their strong defensive skills,  holding their lead at the half of 28-12 through the end of the game where the score was 45-28. The team's 5th win of the season was in part to Ryan Thorna's "amazing plays" said Coach Kilian with a laugh. The Varsity team pulled through after the half when they were behind 25-19. The boys played strong and walked away with a 50-43 win for their last game of the season. Good luck to the Varsity basketball team at sectionals and congratulations to all seniors who played  this year.

Lady Cougars to Defend Class D Title

The Stockbridge Valley Girls Softball Team will travel to Cicero North Syracuse on Saturday, June 6 to defend the Class D Championship title.  They will play at the Gillette Road Complex at 4:30 pm against former nemesis Oriskany.  The Lady Cougars have competed against the Redskins for the past two years, earning the Class D title last year.  Stockbridge Valley defeated Madison on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory to keep their season alive.  Oriskany held off a strong come back by Poland to return to the finals.  The winner will move on to the NYS playoffs.

Stockbridge will rely heavily on the strong pitching of all-star junior, Cheyenne Bumpus and heavy hitters Andrea Rogers and Breanna Marshall, the teams only senior.  Coach Chris Peto has been working several months to prepare the team.  Through out the past year they held numerous fundraisers to earn money to travel to Myrtle Beach to compete in a tournament against much larger schools.

Saturday's forecast promises perfect softball weather.   Take a break from the yard work, grab your maroon garb (Oriskany is maroon also, so you may want to paint that paw print on your cheek as well) and head out to CNS to cheer on the Stockbridge Valley Girls Softball Team!

Congratulations to Brad Marshall who made an Eagle shot earlier this week at Barker Brook Golf Course in a match against DeRuyter.  Brad's Eagle came on hole #13, a par four.  When asked if he saw the shot Brad replied, "No, the DeRuyter players witnessed it.  They told me it went in, but I didn't believe them."

Mark Titus Leaves NBA Draft - But Not Quietly

I can barely stifle my outrage!

Mark Titus is a Junior walk-on for the Ohio State basketball team and is the chief (and only, despite his adoption of other 'nom de blogs', i.e "The Villian") blogger at Club Trillion

Mark had declared himself a candidate for the NBA draft and had a pretty good theory backing up his declaration:  He's a popular guy, his blog has had over a million hits and this, in and of itself ought to make him a tantalizing choice for a pro team.

Alas, it's not to be, Mark says that to his knowledge, he is the only player in history to have the NBA demand  that he withdraw his name!  Mark will be returning to OSU for his senior year, having had the good sense to avoid signing with an agent ( which would have invoked the proverbial collegiate death penalty)

Mark will do very well, he's a funny guy with a unique take on life and his blog is good reading.
